LISA OF THE SAD EYES

3 May, 2013

Lisa of the sad eyes.
Lisa of the silent, painful need.
You speak little with words
but your heart and your life —
your loneliness —
roll through the room like summer thunder,
the cloud of your sadness a doom of grey rain.

You hold forth a hand so carefully beyond reach
yet reaching.

If I pursue your desperation
I know you will flee like a startled bird
and so I will hover,
my own hands outstretched
with seeds of hope and understanding.

But hush! I must be quiet
and
very
still
and wait.

Gentle waiting for Lisa of the Lace,
Lisa of the fear,
Lisa of the sad eyes.
